Romano started his career in the video game industry, with a mixed computer science and film/VFX background and a love for cinematography and user experience.
In the automotive industry, he first worked on the graphics and toolchains pioneered in the Audi Virtual Cockpit in the third-generation Audi TT and helped expand the platform to other VW group cars and brands.
Romano has been promoting the transition to real-time 3D and game-industry inspired processes for the automotive HMI sector and led the development of internal RT3D tools now used at Audi/VW group.
Later, he became a consultant, helping automotive OEMs and suppliers optimize HMI engineering processes before taking on responsibility for UIs at the EV startup BYTON.
In 2020, he joined Unity Technologies to continue advancing HMI development toolchains.
