Dr. Brendan Chan is the Sr. Chief Engineer for Unmanned Systems and Active Safety at Oshkosh Corporation. In his current role, his day-to-day responsibilities include strategy and execution of automation and safety technologies for Oshkosh products. Prior to this, he has served in various technical leadership roles for ADAS and autonomy in Navistar and Bendix, delivering best-in-class solutions to customers in both areas for both organizations. After receiving his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Tech, his strong technical curiosity led him to pursue graduate school at Virginia Tech in the area of vehicle dynamics, where he was awarded his Doctorate.
Brendan is an ASME Fellow and associate editor for the SAE International Journal of Commercial Vehicles and has authored numerous technical papers, reports, and presentations in topics related to advanced technologies for ground vehicles. For his technical participation and leadership in the industry, he received the SAE Foundation/DENSO Young Industry Leadership Award in 2019 and the SAE Forest R. McFarland Award in 2012. A lifelong advocate of continuous learning and improvement, Brendan has always been supportive of various STEM initiatives.
